Obstacle Course at Stage 4

What makes Stage 4 so different from many other spaces is the obstacle course for children. Combining freestanding play components, modular rope structures and numerous landscape elements including rubber mounds and stepping stones, an entire circuit of activities has been created. The entire course measures approximately 60 metres long and is surrounded by well landscaped gardens.

Adjacent to the circuit is a custom designed play unit that was relocated from the temporary Estate Sales Office. The unit is constructed in two different timber colours and includes custom elements such as a rope climbing module and blackboard activity panels. Also included in the space is a motion+ Gyro3.0 and two timber double swings.

Huge slides at Stage 7

Woodlea Estate Stage 7 Play Space is located in Rockbank, Victoria and is one of the many state of the art playgrounds in the newly developed estate. adventure+ was approached by MDG Landscape Architects to create a huge play tower as the centre piece of the park.

Two massive slides, both about 10 to 15 metres long start from tower’s peak and extend all the way to the bottom of the mound, crisscrossing each other for an ultimate thrilling experience for children.

Strategically positioned, the structure is not only a distinctive feature of the park that is noticeable from a distance, but also provides a great viewing platform for children to see across the surrounding parkland. The tower is constructed using the spectrum+ hybrid modular system, utilizing steel as the main structural element and narrow timber guardrail infills for a natural look.

Rubber undersurfacing beneath the tower was designed in two colour wave configurations, giving a vibrant and exciting feel to the space

The colours selected for the equipment, grey and orange, were used to match the theme throughout the rest of the estate. Complimenting the colours, the rubber undersurfacing beneath the tower was designed in two colour wave configurations, giving a vibrant and exciting feel to the space. Since recently being opened, the play space has proved to be a real favourite with the locals.

Architectural Playgrounds at Stage 11

Like the many other stages of Woodlea Estate, the Stage 11 play space is full of interesting and well-designed play activities to be enjoyed by the community.

Designed by MDG Landscape Architects, the space features several levels, with different experiences and elements located on each of these levels. Boulders are used extensively throughout the space for retaining and these double up as stepping stones trails around the space.

The play unit was designed to match the architectural style utilised in the previous play spaces in the estate, using timber as the main material, with brightly coloured steel components that add a vibrancy to the area. One of the primary platforms is connected to the rock mounds via a rope bridge, which creates a flow from one challenge to another.

Another favourite part of the space is the large tube slide down an embankment. Extending from a 2.5 metre high platform, the tube slide is about 9 metres long and provides a thrilling experience for kids. The landscape architect requested customised timber guardrails and angled uprights to give a rugged and natural look.
