The stunning play centrepiece of a newly refreshed playground brings this popular family, skate and wetland park in Coburg up to date, giving it new energy.

Client: Moreland City Council

A stunning play tower and playground equipment incorporating timber and bright colours.

A fresh centrepiece showcasing natural values

As part of the upgrade of Harmony Park, Moreland City Council commissioned adventure+ to create a contemporary, specially constructed playground that met their brief perfectly. The nearby skate park, a wetland offering nature play, a picnic and a barbecue area, a bike path, open space for informal sports, plus the new playground, makes this park a popular location for local families.

Building on the success of our work for the Council at Bulleke-bek Park in Brunswick West, the 2021 Harmony Park update showcases a 5.5 metre high play tower in natural materials, giving the playground a fresh aesthetic.

Fresh, exciting equipment

Working with the Council’s landscape architect, an outdated climbing area with a concrete tunnel has been replaced by fresh, exciting equipment, including:

  • a two-metre slide
  • climbing structures with additional slides in a range of sizes
  • rope bridges
  • monkey bar
  • balance beams
  • a connect 4 play panel
  • and more!

Natural, fun aesthetic

The brief for the centrepiece play tower was to create a natural aesthetic, using steel or timber frame, and timber cladding and finishes.

The spectrum+ style of equipment that features steel construction was used, however, the inclusion of timber cladding achieved the natural appearance the council was looking for. The Council chose some bright, fun colours, which work to make the structures look engaging.

Plastic elements have been minimised, enhancing the park’s natural values. The result is an attractive, harmonious addition to the park.

Fun for all ages & interests

The play equipment was carefully designed to cater for both older and younger children. While the large tower and challenging nets are loved by older children, less challenging elements are perfect for junior children. As a result, parents can sit back knowing their children are playing safely.

The addition of the purpose-built adventure+ play structure makes this wonderful, refreshed park a dynamic hub for the whole family.
