Casey Grammar School

Overview

A ‘Rolls Royce’ school playground

The playground at Casey Grammar School is a playground like none other! The school wanted a ‘Rolls Royce’ playground that was large and impressive. By partnering with adventure+ and architect David Norman Design & Construction, they certainly achieved this outcome. Following the completion of school building redevelopment, which included the removal of existing playground equipment, the school wanted to redesign and rejuvenate the play areas throughout the school.

Huge twin play tower in a school play space

Play tower full of fun

The masterpiece of this playground is the large twin play tower. Standing at over 6 metres tall, these towers are packed with a range of challenging and fun activities, including huge tunnel slides from the highest platforms. This playgrounds suits all ages, however, is mostly used by the middle to senior year levels. To cater for the younger children, a separate space with a junior combination play unit and rope structure was created.

James Rogers, playground consultant for this project says, “The Casey Grammer School playground is probably one of the largest school playgrounds we have completed. It was excellent to see the school and its leadership understand the benefit of well designed and engaging outdoor spaces.”

The playground adds value to the whole look and feel of the play area

Revitalising the schoolyard appeal

Not only does the playground provide an enormous amount of play value and cater to large numbers, but it also adds value to the whole look and feel of the play area. Using a distinctive colour palette that combines natural uncoated timber and red and black powder coated components, the play items give a new and modern feel to the schoolyard. Huge shade sails and landscaping around the playgrounds were completed by others.

Despite being such a large playground, the project went without hiccups thanks to our organised and professional Operations team. Rob Garoffolo, the project manager reported that the project had a successful outcome and was delivered in a timely manner.

It was a pleasure working with both the architect and the school representatives, I have no doubt that the Casey Grammar community will be pleased with their impressive new play facility.
