Create Beautiful Play Spaces with Timber Play Equipment

Timber connects children with nature

For over 35 years, adventure+ has designed and manufactured timber playgrounds all around Australia.

Timber is most loved because of its natural feel and look. It connects children with nature, and provides a fantastic tactile experience. But designers also love it because of its flexibility and aesthetic appeal.

As a natural material, however, maximising the life span of timber playgrounds requires experience and skill. If constructed correctly, a timber playground will require minimal maintenance and will last for years of fun!

symmetry+ timber play equipment

symmetry+ is the adventure+ range of timber play equipment. Utilising White Cypress timber as the main structural element, it is particularly popular in high profile architectural playgrounds or where aesthetic considerations are important. The main accessory components are constructed from galvanised and powder coated steel for its strength, versatility, and colour potential, with other materials utilised to best suit each application.

Unique, Cutting Edge Stirrup Design

adventure+ offers a cutting-edge stirrup system that boasts a strong and aesthetically pleasing design. With a fully engineered spigot that runs up the centre of the timber it gives incredible strength and durability. Many stirrups are unattractive, however, the adventure+ design can be colour coded to match the timber upright. The stirrup is optional, but where inground timber is not preferred the adventure+ stirrup system is a reliable and attractive option.

Australian Timber & Australian Made

It’s well known that Australian timbers are better suited to the Australian climate. That’s why we use White Cypress for our playground equipment and have done it successfully for over 20 years, all around Australia. Many of our timber playgrounds installed 15 to 20 years ago are still standing strong!

Due to the low shrinkage rates and high durability of Australian White Cypress, it is commonly used for playground construction in Australia. Imported timbers are generally tested and classified based on less harsh environments than Australia, such as the European environment, and therefore cannot be accurately compared to Australian timbers.

Timber Colours Options

All symmetry+ play units are supplied with the timber coated in Old Gold colour unless otherwise specified. When specifying uncoated timber, please be aware that it will be more susceptible to weathering. Different coating colours can be used on different components in the same play unit.

Special Features

Unique and special features can be incorporated into a playground design that can give a playground an entirely different look and feel.

Flexibility & Customisation

One of the outstanding features of playground design by adventure+ is the ability to achieve something unique and special. While standard play unit layouts will suit many applications, high-profile locations often deserve a more considered approach.

  6. Much more! The flexibility of our system allows you to incorporate special features unique to your playground.

A Sustainable, Greener Choice

For the environmentally conscious playground purchaser, timber is a logical choice.  Sustainable yield harvesting requires planting at 2:1 or 3:1 ratios, which means that despite the usage, there is an increasing level of raw material resource. Furthermore, managed plantation timbers used for manufacturing absorb CO2 during the growing phase, thereby reducing emissions into the atmosphere. The harvesting and processing of timber requires a fraction of the energy when compared to steel and aluminium, which require 24 and a massive 126 times more per tonne respectively.
